3rd Time Donor!

Reader Stories: Have you donated your hair to Locks of Love?

From lilly413

What inspired you to donate your hair to Locks of Love?

This will be my 3rd donation to Locks of Love and I couldn't be happier. The first time I donated was in the 3rd grade, and it all started with my mom. She told me about Locks of Love and I agreed to do it. Since then I have donated another time, and so has my mother.

How did you feel about your hair after it was cut?

When I was younger I was all about giving up my hair to someone who needed it more than I did, but I hated long hair so I wanted to get it cut right away. Afterwards my family held a "donation party" which made me feel even more special especially when my grandparents game me a precious moments figuring saying you have a heart of gold. I felt fantastic about donating (and I loved getting rid of extra 10 inches of hair for a 5 inch bob)

The second time I donated was after my 7th grade year, and all through that school year I grew my hair out just so that I could be one of the girls that cut their hair at the local Relay for Life. This time I gave 14ins of hair in 2 pony tails because my hair is so thick.

This time I will be a senior and I hope to get my 10 inches cut off soon, but I am waiting on my senior pictures.

Advice

My only advice is DO IT. Its only hair it will grow back, and you are lucky to have any. Those that are helped from this are very grateful and it makes life better for them. I never once have had any regrets from donating its a good thing to help others, and you really don't have to do a lot its a natural thing and you should be happy to give some of your hair to this great cause.
