The next step is to create height, by back combing the hair through the top and crown of the head.
First, create a part, to the right or left of center. If you have bangs, you will want to make sure that part begins just past your bangs.
Next, take two to three-inch wide section of hair at the top of your head that's approximately one-half inch thick, and back comb (tease) the hair to create a cushion of hair at the scalp. Continue by taking another half inch section just behind the first section and back comb the two sections into each other. Continue until you have back combed the entire crown area of your head. The amount of back combing you do will directly impact the amount of height you achieve in your hair style. At this point, its okay if the hair looks a mess, you will smooth it out in the next step!
