I was recently given the opportunity to try a new Clarifying Treatment Shampoo by a company I've never heard of, The Back Bar. I took the opportunity to try this product on my clients as well as my own hair for several weeks. I was rather impressed with the results.
What is The Back Bar's Clarifying Treatment Shampoo and How is it Different?
The Back Bar, a new hair care company from beauty retailer and cosmetics guru Linda Roberts in Nashville, has developed this unisex super-powered, multi-functional clarifying shampoo.
Formulated with DuPont™ Glypure®, the Clarifying Treatment Shampoo contains a mild form of glycolic to gently exfoliate the scalp and effectively remove impurities and build-up from the hair follicle. My Results with the Product
I was quite impressed with Clarifying Treatment Shampoo's ability to effectively clarify all hair types, not over-dry hair, and it's ability to be gentle to the scalp and hair structure.
On the first point, it quite clearly clarified the hair effectively. As a hair stylist, I can often feel product and oil build-up in even the cleanest hair. This product was very efficient in cleaning the hair and removing product build-up and oils.
Secondly, my hair (and my clients' hair) did not seem over-dry after using the Back Bar's Clarifying Treatment Shampoo. I often find that clarifying shampoo's can be very drying to the hair and the scalp. Happily, I did not find that to be the case with this product.
Finally, this shampoo was not at all harsh to the hair or scalp, and provided a nice pH balance to the overall hair structure. With that, the hair is left in perfect condition to accept moisturizing treatments, protein treatments, or color/chemical services.
Recommendations for Use
The manufacturer's suggested use: from bleached to natural, dry to oily, girls to boys… Clarifying Treatment Shampoo is a perfect solution for everyone. Normal-dry hair types use 3-4 times a week and oily-problem hair types use once a day.
I would recommend similar results with a couple of modifications. I would not recommend that people with normal-dry hair use it as often as 3-4 times per week. Rather, I believe that this product would be best suited as a weekly or bi-weekly clarifying treatment for normal hair types. My dry hair recommendation would be no more than once per week.
I think this product would be a wonderful product addition to anyone who experiences oily hair issues. I would recommend to start by using the shampoo every other day, and increase to daily if the problem persists.
