What is ombre hair? Ombre hair color has swept Hollywood in 2010. It's a low maintenance gradual hair color technique that gives a result of very dark hair at the roots that gets lighter and lighter as it reaches the ends. So, imagine that you have naturally brown hair that you colored blond, and then you let it grow out for, oh eight or nine months. Tada! Ombre. Although, typically celebrities with ombre hair color have a little more blond around the face, I think I've quite accurately described the color trend.

I don't get it.

I can only imagine how this look became trendy. [insert dream sequence here] One day some celebrity stumbled out of rehab, drunk, and wandered into a WalMart at around 1:30 in the morning (you know the crowd), sees a girl with "ombre" hair (translation: girl that box colored her hair bleach blond 8 months ago and hasn't touched it since). Said celebrity somehow mistakes this girl as fashion forward (instead of just plain broke or lazy) and snaps her photo with her iPhone. The next day she asks her celeb stylist to recreate the look and, instead of telling her celebrity client that she's lost her mind and perhaps she should take another vacation to rehab, she capitalizes on the idea dubbing the train wreck as the next hot fashion trend.

At least that's the only logical explanation I can come up with.

You can form your own opinion on the look after checking out this photo gallery of all kinds of celebrities with ombre hair color. I'd love to hear your opinions.
